AAU Annual Ball

Friday night and the lights are low Looking out for the place to go Where they play the right music, getting in the swing

The night before we left for Rome, there was the annual AAU Ball! If all of the castles here didn't make us feel like princesses enough, this ball definitely did! It was crazy getting to say that we were going to a ball and then waking up the next morning to fly to Italy. We all felt very glamorous.

The event was at Národní dům na Vinohradech, or "National House of Vinohrady." Buillt in 1879 on the occasion of the advancement of the Royal Vinohrady, it has a Neo-Renaissance style.

Walked a red carpet up to the event, "No pictures please!"

The inside of the ball room was amazing! The ceilings were filled with paintings and murals of biblical scenes.

Later in the evening, lights changed the colors of the room, and it was so magical!

The AAU Ball had a live band playing, The Hot Wings! Originally when we saw the program, we thought we would be getting hot wings all night, but were not disappointed. They played everything, from jazz and swing to rock and blues! Their saxophone player was so talented, and stole the show!

Since the event went late into the evening, and we couldn't afford fancy food, we left for a few minutes and headed over to Burrito Loco! (The only place we have found that is open 24 hours in the Czech Republic) We definitely were the stereotypical Americans eating burritos in ball gowns, but I would 10/10 do it again.

When we got back from Burritos, it was time to ball room dance! They had an hour built into the program where professional ballroom dancers gave lessons to any one who wanted to learn! Our whole choir learned how to Waltz, and Rowan was my lovely dance parter!

Basically professionals at this point, look mom I know more than the YMCA!!

After ballroom dancing, we all just danced around as a group and had a great time! Matt doing the "dab."

We ended up leaving a little early since we had to leave for our flights at 4:30 AM, but we had such a fun night with great people!
