If there is one thing I have learned from this abroad experience, it is that a good day should always start out with coffee and kolaches.

My grandmother always makes this traditional Czech pastry, and so my dad and I had to start the morning with this tradition! I got a peach one, and he tried one with every flavor! Of course they had nothing on my grandmas, but they were pretty darn good!

We then headed towards Vysehrad, one of my favorite places in Prague that I had been dying to show him! Vysehrad is a little outside the city center, so it isn't packed with tourists, and has one of my favorite churches I've visited in the country!

The Basilica of St Peter and St Paul is a neo-Gothic church in the Vyšehrad fortress. The inside of the church is so colorful and intricate, and I made my dad take a similar picture I have of myself inside! #artsy

Just as breathtaking the second time!

In Vysehrad, there is a very famous graveyard that has many important Czech people buried there. We (rightfully) assumed that our Czech ancestors were buried with the best of the best, so my dad and I spent a while tracking down Fischer graves!

"Rodina" means "family" in Czech, and it was traditional for families to be buried together. It is interesting because on some of the sites, there are recent dates and names added, so many people from the area still stick to these traditions and there are many generations buried there.

One thing I hadn't been able to find last time I came to Vysehrad was Dvorak's grave! We went out to find it, and it was such a cool moment! Dvorak is one of the most famous and influencial Czech composers, and I'm singing two of his songs in my vocal lessons this semester!

Vysehrad overlooks the entire city, and even though it was a foggy day, we were able to get some incredible views!

Part of the old Vysehrad original castle walls!

So happy I got to show my dad a new part of Prague, and that he was able to see some more of the amazing city's history!

We headed over towards Wenseslas square for lunch, and I took my dad to my favorite cheap college lunch spot, "Baguette Boulevard!" You can get a foot long, iced tea, and french fries for less than $5!

Is it a coincidence that "Fischer" is written on the inside of the french fry holder? Hoping this was our actual Czech legacy.

We headed over to the Mucha art museum, and my dad stopped for a traditional Czech street sausage on the way there!

Alphonse Maria Mucha was born in the town of Ivancice, Moravia (today's region of Czech Republic). He actually started out as a singer, whose singing abilities allowed him to continue his education, even though art was his true passion. He grew to become one of the Czech republics most famous nationalist artists, with a huge legacy in Prague! He has designed many of the stained glass in buildings, including the St. Vitus cathedral inside Prague Castle. When Czechoslovakia became its own nation, he designed the original currency. He is most famous for his Slav Epic, a cycle of 20 large canvases painted between 1910 and 1928, that shows the history of the Czech and Slavic people.

Czech movie and music posters designed by Mucha! He has such a unique and distinguishable style, and most of his drawings have beautiful women as the protagonists.

Mucha has many sequences of four in his art, and this panel shows the "Four Seasons," as you can see by the change in each woman's background and color palette.

A picture of a Bohemian princess.

The Slav epic is currently on display in Japan, as it travels around the world to teach people Czech history! However, we were still able to see some of Mucha's world famous art pieces, and I fell in love with his style!

Dad ended the day at the Pinkasu restaurant, the first place Pilsner Urquell was served in the Czech Republic!
