Day two in Milan felt like real Italy to me. We left the direct city, and headed towards the waterways of Milan.

These canals were actually built to transfer marble to the construction of the Duomo, the beautiful cathedral we saw yesterday!

Leonardo Da Vinci was called to Milan in 1482 to improve the city with his talents and ideas. The Last Supper is among da Vinci’s most famous contributions to Milan—but legend has it that he also helped plan the renovation of Milan’s canals!

The waterways were filled with colorful buildings, and almost every balcony we saw was filled with plants!

I could definitely bring my succulent collection over here!

We walked along the canal, and discovered some interesting shops and street art!

The mission is to find a cool record store everywhere we go...check!

Interesting glasses display... in case you didn't think Milan was modern!

Saturdays in Milan are farmers market days, and there was one set up along the water! So cool getting to see some locals in action!

We had some authentic Italian gelato, and it was delicious!! I got mango and lemon!

Not sure what my face is doing here, but I was overjoyed!

We had a full day, and got some pasta near our hotel! We definitely made the most of our weekend in Milan, and I bought some Milan fashion magazines to frame as souvenirs! (And of course some postcards to send home!)

I was very proud of myself, because this was the first trip I have ever been able to fit everything into a single backpack to travel with! My friends and I planned the entire trip ourselves, and I couldn't have chosen a better group of girls to travel with! From sunrise to sundown, we saw everything we could in Milan, and even had time to meet some locals and try authentic cuisine!
